The Unsettled Heart

The unsettled heart
Is a hunter-gatherer
A hungry horse
Or a weary bird

The unsettled heart
Is secretly a happy heart
For it barely conceals a wilderness of longings
And a love for all things sweet/torturous

The unsettled heart
Is a mausoleum and a theme park
There are tombs galore of past loves
And carousels for the act of forgetting

The unsettled heart
Is forever shaping and reshaping itself
Like young rivers
Like imperfect unfinished poems ...
