Happy-Go-Lucky

Poppy is a happy girl. I love the sound of that !! As if how can someone called poppy can ever not be happy :). Yes, she is sweet, warm, funny and nice - a little too nice sometimes, your general do-gooder. A soft ball of sweet sunshine wrapped in wool. She lives in the world we live in and nothing seems to get her down. I just loved her playful unflappable spirit. Shes gotta go down as one of the most lovable characters I have ever seen in movies.

We always wonder if we are happy. We often ask ourselves - why not? We love blaming the place and the time we live in, love coming up with theories, pipe dreams, what-ifs, if-onlys and what-nots. Sometimes we go after the little things our hearts desire but more often than not we postpone the very thing that needs to be done. It all seems so complicated - this business of finding happiness and meaning. This business of life. Or maybe it's not. I don't know :).

a few images i loved ..

Found these at http://workisnotajob.com.

Slept through most of the day. So can't sleep. Didn't even try actually. Sleep should come by itself. Sleep should come easy. And you should only sleep when you can't keep your eyes open anymore. Like it happens to me most nights. Not tonight though. But I don't mind it at all.

To lie awake at night willfully and not worry about the next day is a freedom I often long for. :)

Express(way) poetry

the rain started in earnest
then suddenly stopped
as if it just remembered
"oops .. had to go somewhere else !"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the little droplets
were up to something
meeting
breaking
falling off the glass
beautiful patterns
forever in making
never to form
as the twin wipers
wiped them clean
in synchronized fury
MAN PUSH CART
I loved the title. And when I finished the movie, I realized there could have been no other title. And yes, the picture is right. It is about a man pushing his cart. And his life along with it.
This one takes you in slowly, almost indifferently as if it wouldn't matter if you didn't care. Offers you no comforts, no solace, dashes every little hope you build along the way (like we so innocently do when we watch movies, or read stories) and yet leaves you hopeful in the end. It's full of so many everyday moments, awkward and sweet, real and beautiful and sad too. In fact it's made up entirely of real things - hoping hearts, weary smiles and eyes that give nothing yet everything away. It gets you without even trying to and therein lies it's honest beauty. It's a little sad yes but doesn't leave you so. The most beautiful moments in life are often paradoxical. In that way it's a little like life. A little too much.
A sky full of promises ...
Woke up to cloudy skies. May be it will rain today. May be it wont. But right now, the promise is beautiful enough for me.
Wonders Of The Solar System: Empire Of The Sun
Happened to chance upon this while channel surfing. The first episode of the "Wonders Of The Solar System" series on BBC Entertainment today. Totally Awesome !!!
An utterly charming presenter, Professor Brian Cox has that infectious way people have when they are so obviously talking about the things they love. So often, the beauty of science is lost in the dryness of its approach. This one brings back the wonder !!!
Stunning visuals - Wild rivers, the heart of the amazonian forests, extinct volcanoes, the driest desert and the magical northern lights or the "Aurora Borealis" (in pic). The story of the sun, it's birth and the imminent (may be not by our scale of time, but yes imminent it is) death is told through the green of the leaves and the white blue of the surging waters. And they always always keep it real. My fav part is a beautiful long shot of a lone man with a telescope on a mountain top against the vastness of the night.
Made me think about my life and how little my daily pursuits mean in the life of this universe. A little late in the day to become an astronomer now but I can always look at the sky and peace out. Maybe buy a telescope when I am a little richer, and may be have a kid and show him the stars. I think gazing at the stars keeps you humble.
